In progress Since August 28, 2026 Infrastructure

Deploying a centralized print service that lets hybrid staff print securely to office printers from anywhere over the VPN.

Aug 2026live for shared office printers

Business impact

Removes the in-office requirement for printing, so hybrid staff can print from anywhere, with a self-service setup designed to cut support tickets.

Problem

Staff could print only while physically in the office, which slowed remote and hybrid workflows.

Solution

Stood up an office print server that shares the agency printers over the VPN, and wrote a one-page self-service setup guide to cut support tickets.

Results & highlights

  • Live since August 28, 2026 for the office's shared printers; remaining printers being reconnected
  • Published a self-service setup guide (v1.1): connect the VPN, open the print server, add a printer
  • Resilient by design: jobs sent while offline queue and release when the VPN reconnects

Competencies demonstrated

  • Remote access enablement: Office printers shared securely over the WireGuard VPN.
  • Print management: Centralized print server; jobs sent while offline queue and release on reconnect.
  • End-user documentation: One-page self-service setup guide (v1.1).
  • Rollout planning: Next: remote staff setup and testing, then a training SOP and Core Process module.
