Business impact

Kept shipping in-house and on budget: a resilient multi-carrier setup after a hardware failure, on-demand postage instead of an idle subscription, and clean reconciliations.

Problem

Packages and postage required trips out and manual label handling. Later, the legacy Pitney Bowes printer failed out of warranty.

Solution

Built an in-office shipping station, then led a vendor migration from Pitney Bowes to a Zebra ZD421 thermal printer with Shippo for multi-carrier labels. USPS stamps are purchased on demand through Stamps.com and printed in batches to control recurring cost.

Results & highlights

  • Implemented Pitney Bowes shipping labels and scale (November 2025)
  • Migrated to a Zebra ZD421 plus Shippo after the out-of-warranty hardware failed (April 2026)
  • Controlled recurring cost: Stamps.com used on demand, with stamps printed in batches and the subscription cancelled between uses
  • Reconciled postage charges against card statements with no discrepancies
