Business impact

Gave leadership a same-day view of attendance without changing payroll, with an audit trail in two places and a weekly reconciliation step.

Problem

Leadership had no real-time view of who was in and when; punches lived only in the payroll platform, which is built for payroll, not for a same-day operational picture.

Solution

Each employee gets a home-screen app with two tiles, Clock In and Clock Out, each opening a personal pre-filled form so the punch takes one tap and carries the person's identity. Two Zaps write every punch to a Clock Log sheet (with daily first-in, last-out and total hours computed) and post it to a private Slack channel. The payroll system stays the system of record; the sheet is a parallel log reconciled weekly.

Results & highlights

• One tap per punch: identity travels in each employee's personal pre-filled link, so there is nothing to type
• Sized for the automation plan before rollout: about 1,600 tasks a month for 18 seats, inside the plan's ceiling
• Rolled out with a two-day single-user pilot, a 15-minute all-hands install and a same-day verification against the payroll log
• Migrated to Google Forms on 2026-10-23 with regenerated personal links and QR codes for every employee
